The Faculty of Medical and Health Services Campus upgrade comprises of two new buildings – The Boyle Building and a new Central Plant Building creating 7,000 square metres of new learning and teaching spaces, and a Clinical Skills centre.
Stuart West and Chris Edwards were joint Project Managers with complementary specific skill sets. Chris managed the 18 interior rebuilding’s, drawing on his extensive interiors experience and ability to coordinate multiple concurrent work zones. He worked closely with the design team providing outstanding construction, “buildability” and programming advice. Stuart managed the construction of the Boyle building, Central plant and external landscaping. He had extensive experience in large scale new build construction particularly within or adjacent to operating client facilities and he maintained a positive, efficient working relationship with all concerned throughout the project.
Together they had a “divide and conquer “approached leading the project team of 25 + staff, 200 + subcontractors and 700+ workers across 24 separable portions of work.Continuous liaison and co-ordination of works with numerous stakeholders, faculty departments and facilities management, whilst developing and managing construction and procurement programmes plus temporary works staging meant minimising of any disruption which in turn kept the whole facility functioning for the entire 4 year project duration
